Duke requests extra year for lacrosse seniors

Duke has petitioned the NCAA for an extra year of ability for their lacrosse players who are seniors who had their 2006 season cut short by the university. Duke cancelled last season because of the rape charges filed against three players, which were since dismissed. Now they're trying to make up to all those players who weren't even charged by working to get them an extra year. It's not expected to be approved, though, since the school itself cancelled the season, not the NCAA. Thoughts about this?

Re: Duke requests extra year for lacrosse seniors

Not to sound sarcastic but why would a senior want to stay in college another year to play lacrosse ??? Obviously I'm not a lacrosse fan so I would ask is there some future for college lacrosse players ?

There is at least pro league, probably more, but I think that more than anything this is the college trying to make up for robbing these kids of the 2006 season. Even if it is successful, I can't see many taking them up on the offer because they'd have to enroll in grad school or something, and if you're going through grad school you probably have zero time to play lacrosse.

The kids got their extra year of eligibility. Now let's see how many use it.

So why should the kids pay for the stupidity of the school?...I see a lawsuit coming here...the NCAA should do what is right...let the kids play...give them a measure of honor back.

BTW, where are all those people that came out of the would works to speak out against the rape?...Anyone seen a few good political holy man and others of late (not to drop any names)...anyone seen them issue a heartfelt apology for being wrong?...hmmm...ain't gonna hold my breath...
