LSU beat the Blue Devils 62-54 in their NCAA Tournament game tonight. Duke looked horrible, shooting 28% from the floor and getting 23 of their team's scoring output from one player. No, not J.J. Redick - he was 3 for 18 from the field and scored just 11 points - but Shelden Williams, who was 8 of 18 from the floor and 7 for 8 at the line. How bad would this loss have been without him?

Wow...I'm sort of sick of Duke anyway. This makes the tourney even more interesting.

Pundit, I don't understand why having Duke out of the tournament makes it more interesting. Does bad basketball make it more interesting? I'm not saying that LSU is a bad team, they certainly deserved to win. But, Duke played great basketball all year. They had the inside game and the outside game. They are a clean cut team that doesn't play dirty and are a good representative of college basketball. May the best man win but I'm not happy about Duke being out of the tournament.

That thud you heard in the Georgia Dome was JJ Redick's NBA stock dropping out of sight. He could not create his own shot at all, and when he went to the basket he looked like a child playing against men. I think I was wrong earlier when I said he would be an okay pro.
As for Duke, does anyone else wonder why Coach K didn't just keep feeding the ball into Shelden Williams and foul out the two LSU big men? His team played incredibly sloppy and lazy down the stretch in that game, being outrebounded at one point by the free throw shooter, who was the only man against five!
LSU played a good game, but don't be fooled. They have no guards, and I have never seen a team win a game making the turnovers, fumbles out of bounds, and missing free throws that could have ended it, until last night. They are going out next round.

Cannot say I am really surprised. How appropriate was it that Duke couldn't stop Glenn Davis from collecting two offensive rebounds to close out the game? Is Duke's primary big man next year going to be Josh McRoberts? Shudder.
