IMO just about no matter what happens with the Tigers for the rest of the season Leyland deserves Manager of the Year

I cant imagine anyone expected them to do this good, i know i sure didnt

Re: Jim Leyland: Manager of the Year

I tend to agree, unless they completely bottom out in the 2nd half (i.e. 5 wins the rest of the way or something). Although I'm sure there are others - Randolph, Grady Little, etc. - who would contend for an MLB Manager of the Year award, were there such an animal.

Re: Jim Leyland: Manager of the Year

The AL and NL give out separate Manager of the Year Awards at the end of the season. Leyland is a shoo-in for the AL award unless the Tigers falter badly.

I realize that, that's why I said "were there such an animal."

But back on topic: if Leyland's the runaway #1, who are #2 and #3 thus far?

Re: Jim Leyland: Manager of the Year

The Tigers are the most overrated team in baseball. They have an easy schedule, and manage to beat the sub .500 teams. When it comes to the Red Sox, Yankees, White Sox, or A's, the Tiggers have losing records! They're NOT AS GOOD AS THEY APPEAR! ( And they have NO chance to win the World Series)

Al Manager of the Year: Ozzie Guillen ( just look at the White Sox), Terry Francona ( who's done an excellent job with a depleted pitching staff), or Joe Torre ( who has managed around dozens of injuries).

If the Yankees win the East, Torre is the manager of the year.

NL Manager of the Year: Willie Randolph, Joe Girardi, or Phil Garnner ( who has kept the Astros afloat during the first half of the season).
