BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- An arrest warrant for Dmitri Young was issued Tuesday after the Detroit Tigers designated hitter failed to appear for a pretrial hearing on a domestic violence charge.
Young is accused of choking a 21-year-old Toledo, Ohio, woman April 14 at a Birmingham hotel.
A judge ruled Tuesday that information provided by Young's attorney on the player's whereabouts did not meet a requirement that he leave the state only for work-related purposes. Judge Diane D'Agostini of the 48th District Court in Bloomfield Hills issued a bench warrant. Young's attorney, William Swor, declined to comment.

Thats something akin to what Bud Selig is going to say soon as the 21 year old girl has Young's fingerprints around her throat. Hell turn a blind eye to it just like he does to the other jaw dropping crimes baseball and its players perpetrate. Violence against young women is a new low even for morally bankrupt sport like baseball.

Innocent until proven guilty, whether you like the defendant or not. If he's found guilty, then let him have it until your heart's content. Remember, no matter how dispicable you may find any given pro athlete, there have also been false charges and fraudulent lawsuits against them in the past.

I remember one case a few years back against Cowboys WR Michael Irvin, and I was one of the many, many people who rushed to judgment against him because of his past. Only, it turned out that, this one time, he was innocent and the accuser was trying to frame him. I believe she actually wound up doing jail time for it, too. That's taught me a lesson, not to judge these guys too quickly and to let the legal system do it's thing.

According to his profile over at Yahoo! Sports, "Young was activated from the disabled list on Friday after being sidelined since May 22 with a leg strain and personal issues. The Tigers' designated hitter pleaded no contest last month to a domestic violence charge for assaulting a 21-year-old women in a Detroit hotel on April 14. Young, who said he was depressed and had a drinking problem, also spent 30 days at a California rehabilitation center and has said he has stopped drinking."

Pleading no contest is basically saying you won't deny the charge but won't go through a trial. I can see probation (max) or a fine of some sort against Young.

Fine example he is for baby brother Delmon, who had the bat incident earlier...Still I think ball players have such a high profile, that they will do almost anything to down play a situation...I would think he is taking advice from a lawyer on this...Too bad, Detroit can use him this year.
