Miguel Cabrera's new contract

The Detroit Tigers and Miguel Cabrera have reportedly agreed to a new 8-year, $152.3 million deal.

According to the AP, it will make him the fourth highest paid player in baseball, behind "New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez ($27.5 million), New York Mets pitcher Johan Santana ($22,916,667) and Boston left fielder Manny Ramirez ($20 million)." So is Cabrera worthy of such numbers?

Re: Miguel Cabrera's new contract

He is a good hitter, but I am not convinced he is worth that much. This could come back to haunt them.

Not sure he made the right move ...Detriot will hurt his numbers...still he is young...so if you are gonna throw money...throw it at young talent.

Cool Re: Miguel Cabrera's new contract

Am I correct that they didn't bump his contract up until right before spring training ended? That makes me think somebody saw something that they like. I'm just thankful that we are spending money like that? Makes us competitive.
