Re: Detroit Acquires Cabrera and Willis

Detroit's rotation is definnitely one to be wreckoned with in 2008. Willis is a #3 in that rotation. Wow, talk about not having any pressure on you.

Plus they needed a power bat and they have one of the best young hitters in the sport.

dontrelle willis had a rough year last year but when he did pitch well the marlins couldnt back him, the D-train will be just fine in the 3 spot, I wish atlanta couldve got willis..

Re: Detroit Acquires Cabrera and Willis

There's no doubt now he should get a lot more run support. Plus, Detroit is a big pitchers park.

One downside for Dontrelle, he won't get to hit.

I'm glad to see Willis out of the NL East! Great move!

And Dontrelle Willis is shot. A 1.6 WHIP in the national league? The Tigers can have him. I'm just glad the Yankees didn't trade for him.

Also, Gary Sheffield and Cabrerra in the same clubhouse? That should be a pleasant atmosphere, huh?

Re: Detroit Acquires Cabrera and Willis

Willis certainly isn't the stud Cy Young candidate he was when he first came up, but he still has great stuff. Now he gets to face an entire league who hasn't seen him (for the most part).

Re: Detroit Acquires Cabrera and Willis

Sheffield probably won't be there beyond 2008. That is the best lineup in baseball now, bar none. Their bullpen remains shaky though, which is a good thing for the rest of the league.

Re: Detroit Acquires Cabrera and Willis

hello gang, still a bit taken back at this trade that was pulled off, now as far as the ego vs ego in Cabrera vs Sheff,........hmmmm.............I really don't see to much of an issue for one reason.......Jim Leyland, to me anyway, he seems to run a pretty decent clubhouse, and the players know where they stand, and for Cabrera the extra bonus is having the likes of maggs, guillen, and pudge for support and advice, it should work out ok., besides like i said before, Jimmy don't put up with a piss poor locker room, he'll get that point across real quick i'm sure

Willis has half a bad season and everyone says he's shot. Just watch - he'll be healthy and good to go in 2008, and he'll remind everyone just how good a pitcher Willis has been throughout his entire career. If you don't believe me just look at how well he started off the season this past year.

He's had 2 bad seasons - and last year was beyond awful.

He was 12-12 with a 3.87 ERA in 2006 - not great, but not awful - and he was 5-1 in April and 9-3 after May last season. The sky is not falling.
