| Detroit's Alexis Gomez It seems like every year, a championship team needs a boost from an unlikely star. So maybe the Detroit Tigers are destined to win it all, because they sure got a big game from the unlikeliest of souces yesterday -- a guy named Alexis Gomez, described by some as a career minor leaguer. Gomez come out of nowhere to homer and drive in four runs in last night's Detroit victory. First of all, what do you think of this amazing clutch performance by Gomez? And is this kid the kind of guy we should keep an eye on the rest of the series, or has his 15 minutes pretty much come and gone?

| Re: Detroit's Alexis Gomez I've seen Gomez play a few times, and never witnessed anything spectacular, good or bad. Wednesday's game may have been a fluke, but I don't think so....the word from the dugout is that he's been knocking 'em out during b.p. for some time now. He'll get another shot for sure, but Leyland's rotating a lot of players in that DH spot now, so who can say when?! Could be he's one of these guys that are just mediocre during the regular season, but pressure turns them into all-stars....wouldn't it be nice if more players were like that (and by that I of course mean A-Rod)? |
