Detroit takes first game vs Dallas

Okay hopefully the rest of the games will be a better match up than this one.
4-1 final score.
Hot Red Wings power play as Franzen, Rafalski and Holmstrom score.
Filppulla scored during regular time -although even when the teams were evenly matched, Dallas looked like they were one man short. or was it more that Detroit looked like they had a one-man advantage?.
Morrow was the lone scorer for dallas.
31 shots on Turco and surprise surprise just 21 on osgood - Detroit maintains their name as Most Defensive team in hockey - yet they are also offensive - how well that combination works.
Interesting Franzen note from nhl.com, on the hot Red Wing:
"Franzen's 12th goal extended his team postseason scoring record, and matched another club mark by scoring in 5 straight games.
Gordie Howe pulled off the feat in 1949 and '64. Ted Lindsay scored in five consecutive games in 1952.
Franzen has 15 points in the playoffs, tying Jaromir Jagr."
There was an article in the paper about osgood and how great he has been but not talked about - steady and consistent and nobody's noticing. Well, Dallas is now.

If Dallas offense plays, Osgood is Osdone.

Re: Detroit takes first game vs Dallas

when is detroit gonna become a second tier team? I mean they've had a great team for forever. They are old and they will fade but what an orginization. Give credit where it is due. They'll trample the pens. $100 bucks anyone?

I'm not a betting person - but you are right, Detroit has consistently been a phenomenal team, and I do believe they will be next to impossible to beat.

Not even I'd touch that one, glenn. I can hope the Pens win, but realistically... Detroit is such a great team.
