red wings clinch playoff spot

they beat Dallas 5-3, post their fifth win and have 100 points for the 8th straight season and they have a spot in the playoffs before any other team.
Datsyuk had 2 goals and an assist.
Osgood's win.

hey and hasek is "resting" - what does that mean? or does it really just mean he's resting?

I'd rest him too. They don't "need" him at the moment, so they might as well sit him and be sure that his injury is 100% healed come playoff time when we'll need his goaltending skills.

I smell a President's Trophy in this team's future.

Resting Hasek's a good move; maybe someone convinced him it was better to not play now and get ready for the playoffs.

Keep Osgood in. Hasek dives on every shot.

I think they've tied him to a chair somewhere and are IV'ing him with meal supplements.
And he's mad.

You think they'll kinda blow off the rest of their games?

Osgood is better than Hasek. Hasek dives too much. That is why Detroit has bad goaltending. They have mummies for Goalies!

Detroit has bad goaltending? If I remember correctly (and I may be wrong) they had the lowest GAA in the league for a good chunk of time. That doesn't happen with crappy goaltending.

And lets not forget that both Osgood and Hasek were nominated for the All-Star game.

There are a lot of teams in the lead who would love to be 'cursed' with such bad 'goaltending'

Re: red wings clinch playoff spot

Yeah, hasek is still one of the best - his style may look like he's diving, he loves flopping around on the ice, he doesn't do the big glove saves - do you mean diving for the puck, Ollie or diving as in faking it? He is a whiner, but he is also great.

Well he's older than Christ himself, I think he's earned the right to whine a bit.

Re: red wings clinch playoff spot

No. I once saw him dive for a puck that was going 10 mph on the ground. It went in. He doesn't have good judgment. He needs to stand up and stop going down to take a little lay down rest on the ice.
