The Red Wings are currently the top seed in the Western Conference, but will they be able to maintain that status through the month of March?

So far, so good, as they've already claimed wins over Anaheim and Phoenix this month. Future opponents appearing on the 2006 Detroit Red Wings Hockey Schedule in March include the Coyotes for a 3/7 rematch, the L.A. Kings and the Chicago Blackhawks. Plus there's another showdown with the Ducks on 3/15 as well as games against Edmonton, Vancouver, Nashville, San Jose, Columbus and St. Louis.

After looking at their competition for the month ahead, do you think Detroit will be able to maintain their winning ways until April, or will the Stars or Flames have an opportunity to catch up with them?

Fortunately, the Wings still have six games against Chicago and Columbus. An article I recently read (I don't remember where) showed that the Wings and Carolina had the most games against teams out of the playoff picture after the Olympic break. As long as the Wings keep their focus, they should win the west. The real battle will be with Carolina for the President's Trophy.

Who do you give the edge to in the race for the President's Trophy, anrobins?

I am biased, but I like the way the Wings are playing. They're well-coached and have played strongly since the outset of the season. Carolina is hurting a little, at least, if not big time, with Cole out. It looks like other contenders like Ottawa, Philly, and Dallas are looking to make moves.
