ESPN is reporting that Flip Saunders will not return next season as the Detroit Pistons coach

Sounds like Dumars wants assistant coach Michael Curry to take over as head coach. To me, this is one of those moves where you are making a move just to make a move, I mean he has had them in the eastern conference finals for three straight years. I always thought Flip was a very good coach and I would welcome him back to Minnesota with open arms.

PS- Just imagine if Dumars had brains enough to select Carmelo, Bosh, or Wade in the 2003 draft.

Saunders was brought in to win a title. He didn't get it done. Was it his fault? No, not really. I still think Rasheed Wallace deserves most of the blame, but Dumars obviously wants to change the approach on the sidelines. By the way, I wouldn't be surprised to see Sheed follow Flip out the door and the Pistons look to reload and make it to the finals next season.

This is the right move, if a team has the talent to get to the East Finals 3 years in a row under a coach, they should be able to win the Finals sometime. This was a leadership thing and Flip was giving them that. Right move.
