Rasheed doesn't want All Star berth

The Detroit Pistons' Rasheed Wallace is third in the fan voting among Eastern Conference centers, but don't bother to initiate a campaign.

Re: Rasheed doesn't want All Star berth

I have heard this coming from a lot of athletes from all the sports. They would rather have the time off to be with their families. I can't blame them. They do not want to risk injury over a meaningless game. Fans can get angry with him, but how mad would they be if he blew out a knee at the game and couldn't make it for the playoffs.

I don't know. They still have the whole offseason to spend with their families and they're rich enough so they can fly their families down to the game. To me, it would always be an honor to play.

Would a couple months a year be enough to spend with your family. I could not be away from my wife and kids that long without seeing them. I would want every off day I could get.

He doesn't have to worry. Two of his teammates were named:

Chancey Billups and Richard Hamilton. So Rasheed can go do whatever it is that he does - when he's not playing basketball.
