Ben Wallace vs. Chris Webber

After they lost Ben Wallace, the Pistons were searching for a new identity. I do think that they still believed they were the team to beat in the East, but with the injury to Chauncey Billups and the losses that came without their floor leader, this was the perfect time to get the kind of lift a player like Chris Webber will give you. It’s great in the short-term, but I also feel like it’s a terrific long-term addition for this team, for the rest of the season and the playoffs.

Both Ben and Chris are elite big men, but they have totally different games. Chris is a guy who fills up the stat sheet absolutely effortlessly and he’s such a pure passer that if you don’t have your eye on the ball, you better wear a helmet. The Pistons are going to find out in the next few weeks how easy it is going to be for them to score.

As for Chris, he couldn’t come to a better team. They have, like he does, such a great feel for the game. These are smart players. And there are going to be nights when they cut other teams up like a surgeon. Anywhere you throw it, you’re going to find somebody who can put the ball in the basket. You don’t have to be looking for one particular guy. You just make the best pass – and Chris is such a pure passer. That’s what he wants to do, anyway.

So which big man would you rather have, Big Ben or C-Webb?

Re: Ben Wallace vs. Chris Webber

I think without a doubt Webber. Ben was great for the team but I truly feel he didn't bring nearly as much to the game as he was given credit for. Yes he had some blocks and a ton of boards but he was an offensive liability. Not much of a shooter or a passer. Webber, even at this point, is still a serious offensive threat. He's already lead the team many nights with scoring and rebounds. He's also doing a decent job on defense. Their record has been great since he's come on board. Teams have to respect his outside shot, which will open the middle up. And no big man(even few point guards) are better passers to a cutting player than Webber. It's a solid fit that could bring them another title or damn close this year. That's only cause of the different style teams out there now. They would have won it with this team just as easily as they did with Ben.
