| Kevin Jones showing progress In addition to being a few pounds lighter and a half-step faster after training in Arizona this offseason, Kevin Jones made notable improvement as a receiver with diligent pass-catching work. Jones wants to be a more well-rounded back and relegate Arlen Harris and rookie Brian Calhoun to limited roles. ESPN.com - NFL - Whispers from around the NFL I like Jones...he is an elite back on a bad team...and now he is looking to improve...the extra pass catching will also help his Fantasy numbers. |

| Re: Kevin Jones showing progress I'm not so sure, Goth. I mean, the kid was only averaging 3.6 yards per carry last season. You can't blame all that on his offensive line and the inept passing attack. We'll he how he is in 2006 after improving his physical condition, but let's just say I'm not sure the Lions would probably be best off using a tailback rotation. They don't have a big-time workhorse.

| Re: Kevin Jones showing progress Well, let's see how he does this year with a REAL quarterback running the team. If the passing game opens up with Kitna the way I think it will, it should open up plenty or running lanes for Jones. I guess I'll go ahead and take a wait and see attitude with the ex-Hokie. |

| Re: Kevin Jones showing progress I'm with you Gotham, Kevin Jones is a stud. Forget about last season. Mooch misused him when he was healthy and he had to share carries with Pinner and Bryson. I got sick to my stomach last season reading box scores where he had 9, 7, even 4 carries in the entire game. Remember as a rookie Jones averaged 4.7 yards a carry and rushed for over a thousand yards, the bulk of which were in the final 8 games. That was the real Kevin Jones. The one who was trusted with 240 carries. The one who didn't have to fight for time with running backs who were not as talented as he is. Hopefully Martz and Marinelli, who has said he'd like to pound the defense with the running game, will use him right and KJ will stay healthy and show us all what he can do. |
