| Lions give Jeff Backus new deal
Offensive tackle has signed a new deal with the Detroit Lions; he will make $15.5 million guaranteed over the next six seasons. "I'm very appreciative to the Lions and the Ford family for getting this done," Backus told The Associated Press on July 13. "I'm looking forward to continuing my career in Detroit and helping to turn this organization around."
Give Millen credit where credit's due -- this was a rare good move for the beleaguered GM. Backus is a real talent, and the anchor of the Detroit offensive line. Definitely a guy you want to keep around. |
