Re: Lions release "Big Daddy" Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - The Detroit Lions released defensive tackle Dan "Big Daddy" Wilkinson on Monday.
He spent the last three seasons in Detroit after being cut by the Washington Redskins following the 1996 campaign for not taking a pay cut. Wilkinson, who has played in all 48 games while with the Lions, made 26 tackles with three sacks last season.
Wilkinson, who was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals as the first overall pick of the 1994 NFL Draft, moved to the nation's capital when Cincinnati declined to match an offer sheet from the Redskins in February, 1998.
He has 455 career tackles with 54 sacks, five interceptions and six forced fumbles in 185 games over 12 seasons. not the Hall of Famer everyone once expected but a solid pro...he has a history of problems with his feet...but there must be some team that is willing to take Big Daddy....any takers out there? |
