This is what happens when you fail to get those Fire Millen walkouts properly organized at home games, Lions fans. Now you're paying more to see less.
The Lions are raising their ticket prices this year after losing seven out of their last eight games to finish 7-9 (in a city whose industrial economy is collapsing, at that). Of course, there's also that big number: 31-81 since
Matt Millen has taken over the team. The average ticket price now jumps from $60.66 to $71.85. The Lions are going to look like the bad guy here. And that's understandable.
But it's also the first time in the life of Ford Field (three years) that they've raised ticket prices, and the average ticket price is still about $4 less than the league average. Part of this rise is due to the rising salary cap, which Lions' executive vice president Tim Lewand said they "always spend to the limit," (he never said they spent it well). With the way the NFL economy is changing, a hike was bound to happen at some point. You can't really blame them.
