| I can't see the Lions making the play offs this year, they have too many bad areas such as 1. offensive line (can't protect quarter back even if he is in the right spot) 2.Kitna drops back too far, it makes it too easy to beat o-line with defensive backs. Offensive linemen are not built for speed. 3.Kevin Jones a featured RB? I don't see it. I've never been impressed, he is a relief at best, He goes down way to easy. Why do they keep sending him up the middle? have they not noticed he doesn't get anywhere, ever. 3rd and short give the ball to FB Bradley he's a 320 lb. bulldozer. 4.Special teams- 1 good return out of how many? where'd Drummond go? and their coverage team can make even an average return guy look good. Thank goodness for the old man (Hanson) 5.Very inconsistent pass rush 1st quarter is always best. defensive line may be in need of some conditioning (what do you think sean rogers?) sean could be one of the best in the league, instead after 1st half he looks like he's out of it completely. 6.Their 3rd down, and red zone defense is about the weakest in the league, rarely do they stop anybody that gets close to the end zone, and just as rare do they stop anyone with 3rd and short. On the other hand if they could straighten out a few things. They have some very good players. I blieve what Marinelli says, "It's all about the coaching". So how about he stops talking about it already and starts doing it. If players aren't executing find out why and fix it, or get rid of them. I keep seeing the same stupid mistakes week after week. penalties, dropped balls, many missed tackles, Kitna not seeing the open guy, instead trying to force something and risking interception. totally blown coverages. I see a lot of good things happening also, but they seem to be overshadowed by the bad things. I'm afraid by the time he gets it right he will have lost the players that were worth keeping. He definitely must see different film than I do. They may have the heart, but they don't seem to have the skills (at least nothing consistent anyway) I'm sure I can speak for all the lions fans, when I say we are ready for a Superbowl contender, We've waited so long. We've seen glimmers of hope. The 1991 and the 1995 seasons were good, but not good enough to get us to the show. That is why it's hardtobealionsfan |

| Re: Lions have too many things wrong to make the play-offs CALVIN JOHNSON will probably be one of the best receivers in the league, when all is said and done, but probably not with the lions, unless some drastic changes are made, you're probably right, what you said about Matt Millen. Whatever it takes to make this a winning organization, I'm all for it. |

| Re: Lions have too many things wrong to make the play-offs I think they are just a good QB away from the playoffs. If they can play longer on offense that will keep the D-line off the field, and help them later in the games. Kitna is a good for this year, but he is not the answer.

| Re: Lions have too many things wrong to make the play-offs Welcome to the forum. Guess I have more faith in your team than you do. I think they stand a chance to make the playoffs. You had to be excited about this year. They looked better than they have for a long time. Marinelli and Martz are good at what they do. I agree Kitna isnt the answer. I dont like Matt Millen either. He has never done the Lions any good.
