Lions see no stop to Kitna's start

Jon Kitna's shelf life as the Lions' starting quarterback will be longer than originally anticipated. Kitna is coach Rod Marinelli's quarterback of the present and future. Marinelli does not regard Kitna as a stopgap or interim solution while he looks to develop a young quarterback for the future.
Kitna, 35, signed a four-year contract in 2006 when he became a free agent after five seasons in Cincinnati. His age is not an immediate concern, and he's in Marinelli's long-term plans.
