| Lions are NFL's forgotten dynasty When roll is called for great NFL teams of post-World War II era, 7 teams are usually mentioned. They all won 3 or more championships in less than a decade. They are the 1946-55 Cleveland Browns, Packers of the 60's, Steelers of the 70's, Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders of 1976-83, San Francisco 49ers of 1980's and early 1990's, Cowboys of the 90's, and Patriots of this decade. One team that belongs here that usually gets overlooked is the Detroit Lions of the 1950's. Detroit won 3 titles then but tended to be obscured by the Browns-even though the Lions beat them 3 times in title games-and the Johnny Unitas-led Baltimore Colts. Another reason the Lions are overlooked is that they've gone half a century since winning their last championship in 1957, a record for futility for a team that hasnt moved. Ultimate Jaguars Newsroom: Lions are NFL's forgotten dynastyMarinelli would like to put them back in the history books.
