Roy Williams is surrounded by reporters -- lights, cameras, microphones, voice recorders, notebooks -- and someone brings up Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher. "Who was that?" Williams says, feigning ignorance. "Brian Urlacher," the reporter says. "Urlacher?" "No. 54." "Oh, you're talking about the guy who was nervous the last game." "Your last game with them?" "Yeah, the one where we took them down to the wire." Williams recalls Dec. 24, when the Bears' Devin Hester kicked the ball out of Mike Williams' hands on the last play, the ball fell incomplete in the end zone and the Lions lost, 26-21. Then he gets back to Urlacher. "That guy?" he says. "Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Great player. All-Pro linebacker. Pro Bowl guy. Knows that we had them on the edge there on that last game. But it's a new year, man, and everybody's excited about the Bears. It's going to be one heck of a show." It's becoming a tradition. The Lions play the Bears, Williams says something, Urlacher responds, Williams says something else.
