Lions owner: Millen's job not in jeopardy

Detroit Lions president Matt Millen, as it turns out, wasn't in any danger of losing his job last year and it doesn't appear he'll be in any jeopardy this season either. Team owner William Clay Ford granted his first interview in two years on Thursday, the opening day of the Lions' training camp. Ford said that despite the team's 3-13 record he saw improvement and a brighter future and didn't consider making any changes. "I didn't say 'You're safe, don't worry about it' in so many words. But, by the same token, I never intimated to him that he wasn't safe. It was business as usual,'' Ford said. "He never outwardly expressed any doubt in his mind or anything like that, like 'Well, you know, I may be gone next month, or next week or tonight.''' Ford said he didn't contemplate any changes because he liked the chemistry between Millen and head coach Rod Marinelli, who was hired last year. -- Ann Arbor News

And the world wonders, "Why Not?"

Seriously, it's torture waiting to see just how bad this dude needs to screw up to get canned.

Any other team and Millen would be gone, long ago.
