Did Lions make wise choices?

Millen did make a deal with the Buffalo Bills, moving down in the second round from 34th to 43rd for a couple of picks... He then took Michigan State QB Drew Stanton, defensive end Ikaika Alama-Francis of Hawaii and free safety Gerald Alexander of Boise State in the second round... None, however, will make an immediate impact for the Lions. The injury-prone Stanton may be ready to play by 2008, Alama-Francis is considered a raw talent and Alexander won’t push a veteran in the Lions’ defensive backfield out of a job.

So forgetting the other players mentioned in the article... how soon do you think Drew Stanton will be the starting QB for the Detroit Lions?

2008 it will be exsactly the Carson Palmer deal but Drew Stanton isnt anywhere near as good Palmer

I am with the rest of the voters...2008...why rush him?...Kitna is okay for the time being...and now he also has CJ...

Okay, just for the sake of being different, I'm gonna say it takes him 2 seasons to pick up the Mike Martz offense and he starts in 2009.

It would not be out of the question...though Martz is gonna get a little pressure of Kitna with CJ in two begins to falter...

Kitna is doing a good job in my estimate so I agree with Goth. 2008 is a good time table for him and if Martz saw something in Stanton i'm sure he has potential. I read the scouting reports on him and he's good to play in a dome because he doesn't have the strongest arm but supposedly he's accurate. We'll see but I must admit to being intrigued by the Lions rebuilding effort.

Kitna has never been a terrible QB. He had some good seasons in Cincinnati before getting passed over for Palmer. He will be a good transition QB until Stanton is ready.

Haven't they been rebuilding since Sanders left???

Yep, and those efforts have been stymied by poor coaching and worse drafting. Looks like they may be on to something now, finally, but we'll see I guess.
