Lions trade McCown, Williams

The Detroit Lions have traded QB Josh McCown and WR Mike Williams to the Oakland Raiders for a fourth-round pick (105th overall). According to the Associated Press, "While he has ideal size at 6-5, Williams is considered too slow for coordinator Mike Martz's offense and doesn't run crisp routes." Plus he becomes expendable with the addition of Calvin Johnson. Thoughts on this trade?

I really like this on the side of Oakland...Russell, Miller, Bush, and now Williams and McCown?...they have done well this draft...Williams has to be excited to go back to Cali and have Russell throwing to him.

Re: Lions trade McCown, Williams

I think it worked out for both teams pretty well because it seems that Martz is drafting well and with Calvin Johnson on board there is no need to have Mike Williams. Any scouting reports on that QB Beck that they took? Can he be a solid NFL QB? He will be throwing to Johnson and Roy Williams if he works out.

Detroit picked Michigan State's Drew Stanton, not Beck. I think Beck went to Buffalo.

He was a reach, I think. They should've gone Beck or Edwards instead.

Well Williams won't be able to catch a 60 yard pass from Russell till he, drops the BBQ chicken legs, backs away from the buffet table cause they ain't no way he will get down the field fast enuf to chase down one of his passes unless they give him a 20 yard head start, but then again he will probably drop a sure touchdown pass like he did in Detroit. (most likely from the Butterfingers)
