Re: Detroit Lions Draft Picks i'm not to disapointed, #1 the cj pick, his talent speaks for itself, sure he could have traded down and got more picks perhaps, but, he took him, kind of a damned if you do/don't type of deal #2 stanton, well that did surprise me, the thing i feel most confident about this, is the fact he ran the spread offense for (jl smith) now i'm not sure exactly what the martz system is, but i always thought it was a spread type offense, maybe they feel it won't take stanton long to pick it up. and if that the case, well not a bad idea then, as far as the rest of the picks go,...............crap shoot i suppose

Re: Detroit Lions Draft Picks I'm glad Martz stepped up to the plate and took the Johnson pick on himself. It was the right pick, and the ONLY reason anyone was questioning whether or not he should go to Detroit is Millen's history of poor wideout picks. You can't let ego or past decisions cloud your judgment when it comes to getting the guy who can help out your team the most, and that was CJ.

I respecfully disagree with all of you. Unless that franchhise player was a quarterback like Manning, and your team has more holes than swiss cheese, for years - like the Lions, you have to trade it. When a team is this bad, a wide receiver, no matter how good he is, is not the way to go. When Bill Parcells re-built the Jets in the 90's, when Jimmy Johnson re-built the Cowboys, they did it with a ton of picks. Who were the Patriots wide receivers? How many Super Bowls did they win? The Pats built their winners through the draft - Brady, Seymour, and all their other role players. Sure Brady was selected in the 6th round, but that's exactly the point. The more crap you throw up against the wall, some of it is bound to stick - even if you're an incompetent boob like Matt Millen.
