Roy Williams Wants Lions to Draft Adrian Peterson

I don't have the exact quotes, so I'll just summarize what he said:

The more interesting thing that he responded to was the question of who the Lions should draft in April. Usually, players will give a generic response to the likes of, "I'll let management worry about that, it doesn't matter to me." Well, Roy Williams doesn't roll like that. He gave an honest answer and said that he wants Detroit to draft Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson. But, he said the Lions should trade down a few spots to do so.

Well at least he did not say Millen should draft a highly rated receiver...yet again...count your blessings and move on...

They need defense first not offense. Kevin Jones will be back next season and he is pretty good. But their secondary stinks. They need major help on defense.

Is it a given that Jones will be back next season? Last I heard, that was a pretty bad injury, and there was talk that it could cost him at least most of 2007. They'll get defensive help, but I think it'll come in the second or third round... their first rounder will probably be Quinn or Peterson.

Even if Jones isn't back for the start of the season they can pick up a free agent to do the job until he gets back. If they draft Quinn that would be the dumbest move ever. Look at the stats from last year. What was worse the offense or the defense. The defense by far. That is where they need the most help and that is where they need to draft.

Honestly....Peterson has bust written all over him. He's very injury prone for starters, 2nd he has not been dominate since his Freshmen season and to top it off when he went down this season his backuop ended up with more yards a game and more yards per carry.

I wouldn't draft Peterson on the basis that your #1 RB is injured. Kind of an oxymoron situation isn't it?

Lions should just pick up Joe Thomas and start a solid foundation.
