Lions Free Agents

Seems like Detroit has a lot of guys to make decisions about.

Unrestricted
------------
Jeff Backus, t (designated as franchise player)
Shawn Bryson, rb
Jared DeVries, de
Eddie Drummond, wr
Kalimba Edwards, de
Troy Edwards, wr
Vernon Fox, s
Jeff Garcia, qb
Andre Goodman, cb
Brock Gutierrez, c
Earl Holmes, lb
Tyrone Hopson, g
Kevin Johnson, wr
Kyle Kosier, g
R.W. McQuarters, cb
Wali Rainer, lb
Victor Rogers, t
Paul Smith, fb
Bracy Walker, s
Nate Wayne, lb

Restricted
----------
James Davis, lb
Casey FitzSimmons, te
Terrence Holt, s
David Kircus, wr
Jon McGraw, s
Cory Redding, de

Again, as I'm starting to notice, this list may be a little out of date. The Lions haven't exactly been tearing up the league lately, so it may wind up that there's a lot of roster turnover for them. So who'll be back for the 2006 season and who won't be?

They'd be smart to keep R.W. McQuarters for the cornerback crew. He's a great cornerback who can cover the speed receivers, as well as stick with them step-by-step.

He also supplements the special teams as a kick returner.

Re: Lions Free Agents

Backus should be back. I like McQuarters. He had some big moments last season. If Drummond is healthy, he has value on special teams.

Re: Lions Free Agents

Okay, everyone seems in agreement that McQuarters should be back.

Any of these other defensive players worth bringing back? Maybe Edwards or Holmes?
