| Re: Lions must win... or else! (Detroit News article) The above article suggests that post-baseball euphoria about the AL Champion Tigers has helped keep the spotlight off the inept Lions, and now the Detroit football team will start to be under more scruitiny this week.
I'm not sure I buy that argument. The author says "the Lions' 1-6 record this season... matches only 2003 among recent seasons for futility... The current Lions have been knocked off by Seattle, Green Bay, Chicago, Minnesota, St. Louis and the New York Jets. Some might say that the Lions could have beaten the Vikings, the Seahawks and the Rams -- some dang things went wrong that destroyed the opportunities for victories... The Lions have new coaches, a new quarterback -- but the same, threadbare alibis. Dropped passes. Missed tackles. Bungled pass coverage. Penalties."
All that's true, but I think that fans see that coach Rod Marinelli has this thing going in the right direction, despite this season's struggles. The team still has a lot of work to do, but the coach seems like a good fit. What do you guys think? |
