Greatest Nugget of all-time?

This former ABA franchise has had some pretty good players over the years, but who has been the best?

I'm just going to go ahead and give it to Carmelo now. He is going to be better than anybody ever on that team, so why wait.

Oh, man, this one's a no-brainer for me. It's got to be David Thompson. Four-time All-Star, once scored 73 points, only player in history named MVP of both the ABA and NBA All-Star Games, scored 11,264 points career points in his NBA career alone.

Loved Thompson...but Issel was steady for years...Thompson had injury bugs...Still loved the way the man could get up and dunk...and I remember the 73 point effort.

Re: Greatest Nugget of all-time?

David Thompson invented the alley-oop. Many guys here are too young to remember him, but he could shoot from the outside and jump like few human beings ever. It was said he could grab a quarter off of the top of the backboard and leave a nickel up there. No other Nugget is even in his class.

Hey I am old school as the next guy...but to me, as much as I liked the guy, it was over too quickly...Issel was steady for years and years...he made a living with the back door lay-up.

Couldn't agree more. Who cares if he didn't have longevity. Neither did Jim Brown, really.

Well, is longevity puts Issell over Thompson, it also puts Art Monk in the Hall of Fame, doesn't it?

Yeah, when all's said and done, it may well wind up being Anthony. But I'm not ready to crown him just yet.
