According to AP and various media reports, Broncos punter Todd Sauerbrun is going to be suspended for the first month of the upcoming season after he tested positive for ephedra. Sauerbrun has also allegedly been linked to steriod use in the past and has a history of off-the-field problems as well. So does this really surprise anyone here?

What surprises me is a punter taking steroids...come on now...do they really need to bulk up to kick a football?...Are we going to start reviewing punting stats?...Anyone remember Ray Guy?...the guy was rail thin...great all around athlete though...

Most punters I think are above suspicion, but Sauerbrun clearly was on something. The dude's built like a fullback.

"Now that Sauerbrun has put the Broncos in an uncomfortable position, their best move would be to hand the former West Virginia Mountaineer his outright release," says the above article. "Not only has Sauerbrun done a disservice to himself in this ordeal, but he's let his teammates down, who have enough common sense to decline on using performance-enhancing supplements. As a punter, it's a wonder why the former second-round pick would even need to take ephedra at all; nevertheless, it happened and he should face the consequences."

So, should Denver just cut this guy and be done with it? Or is he too good of a punter to lose?
