| Broncos release Mike Bell Broncos release Mike Bell and backup kicker July 21, 2008 - 3:33PM BY FRANK SCHWAB, THE GAZETTE The Denver Broncos released running back Mike Bell and kicker Garrett Hartley on Monday, less than a week before training camp begins. Bell made a splash as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2006, climbing to the top of the depth chart at tailback a little more than a week into his first training camp. But after a solid rookie season Bell fell out of favor, was moved to fullback before last season and wasn't in the team's plans for this season. Hartley was an undrafted rookie who was supposed to be Matt Prater's main competition in training camp, which starts Friday. Prater is the only kicker left on the roster.

| Re: Broncos release Mike Bell I am a little bit surprised by this too Vince. I know they just brought in Pittman from Tampa Bay to compete for some playing time at the RB position but with the release of Travis Henry, I felt Bell was pretty safe. Mike Bell got hurt early last year and never truly recovered as Selvin Young and Travis Henry got the bulk of the carries. They moved him to fullback which I know he didn't like because the Broncos rarely use the fullback except in short yardage situations. |
