Denver 7th on list miserable sports cities

The number that has been synonymous with Denver's most heralded sports star is now also the city's rank among America's most miserable sports cities, according to a recent magazine article.
Forbes Magazine ranked Denver No. 7 on its list of miserable sports cities

The criteria for inclusion on the list required that the city had not won a major sports title in the last 5 years and had at least 75 seasons total among its professional football, basketball, baseball and hockey teams combined.

The list:
1. Atlanta, Ga.
2. Seattle, Wash.
3. Buffalo, N.Y.
4. Phoenix, Ar.
5. San Diego, Ca.
6. Houston, Texas
7. Denver, Col.
8. Cleveland, Ohio
9. Philadelphia, Pa.
10.Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn.

All these are pretty dead on, specially atlanta. I thought Detroit would be on there because of the failing economy. Kinda suprised with minnesota and houston though

Re: Denver 7th on list miserable sports cities

I remember on ESPN's Cold Pizza they ranked Cleveland #1. I would tend to agree. I think that Atlanta just isn't a rabid sports city so they don't mind the fact that they have only one major sports championship in the last 20 years as where the lack of success in Cleveland eats them alive.

i dont think denver should be on the list. they won back to back titles in the late 90's before elway retired, the rockies made it to the world series, and haven't the avalanche won an nhl title or two? the nuggets are pretty bad though.
