Man, it's been a very interesting year for Football in general. Several players on the college and professional level's killed or injured from gun fire. Man, it's a sad time when this happens.

The initial report I read was that this fellow was going to go home and speak about staying out of gangs to the youth there.

Re: Broncos CB Darrent Williams killed

A shocking tragedy.

The latest details to surface are Williams and two other people were in a limo when another car pulled up beside it and opened gunfire. Williams was killed and the other two people were wounded.

Re: Broncos CB Darrent Williams killed

There are reports surfacing that Javon Walker was in the limo with Darrent Williams when the attack happened. The AP said Walker was seen with blood on his shirt when he appeared at the Bronco's facility earlier today.

Couldn't begin to imagine what must be going through his mind.

Cool Re: Broncos CB Darrent Williams killed

It's awful to hear stuff like this. Williams sounded like a good guy, too. Andrew Morsel who has covered the Broncos since '02 wrote this:
Quote:
I have never seen anyone walk into a building in his first day on the job with the enthusiasm that this fast-talking Fort Worth native showed.....A broad smile seemed tattooed to his face as he moved about the building....A lively, engaging, bright light at Dove Valley has died. It shone with every smile that Williams shared with a teammate, a coach, a staffer or an interviewer.

I agree. He will be missed, and we wish the best to those close to him. Sad really, that someonestoops so low as to murder an innocent bringer of joy and create contention and grief througout the football culture and the world.

Broncos and thousands more remember player killed in Denver
San Jose Mercury News, CA - 9 hours ago
FORT WORTH, Texas - The pin-striped navy suit fit his sculpted shoulders perfectly. The knot in his orange tie was pulled snugly around his neck. The white shirt was crisply pressed.

Darrent Williams was always fashionable.

His hands rested calmly on his lap. His hair braided in cornrows. His eyes were closed ever so slightly, the epitome of peace.

His two children, 7-year-old Darius and 4-year-old Jaelyn, looked on as their father rested and older family members cried.

Perhaps they were oblivious to the finality of this weekend's services, unaware that their dad was gone for good, that once the lid of his copper-colored casket closed, and his body was carried off in a horse-drawn white carriage, they'd never see him again.

Williams, the former O.D. Wyatt High School standout and starting cornerback for the NFL's Denver Broncos was buried Saturday afternoon, following a funeral service at Great Commission Baptist Church on McCart Avenue in south Fort Worth.

Williams was 24.

Bronco's family awaits "closure"
Denver Post, CO - 3 hours ago
month after a rising Denver Broncos star was shot dead in a limousine, Darrent Williams' killer remains on the loose and police have named no suspects.

Williams' uncle says he is disappointed there hasn't been an arrest but still has confidence in Denver police.

"We need some closure," Demond Williams said. "We need these guys off the street so they do not hurt another family."

Denver detectives have kept quiet about their investigation of the New Year's Day shooting, but that doesn't mean the case isn't progressing, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said Wednesday.
