| Re: Broncos let it ride on Cutler in playoff chase Shanahan's gamble to bench Jake Plummer has paid off to some extent, although he said he didn't care about being proven right to critics. He said he expected all along that Cutler would play well.
"It doesn't surprise us at all," Shanahan said. "It might surprise a few people."
Cutler's first pass against Arizona was a sign of things to come. He fired a 54-yard touchdown to Javon Walker to give Denver a 7-0 lead. The Broncos blew out the Cardinals and won 24-23 against Cincinnati last week. The past two weeks Cutler has completed 33 of 54 passes for 440 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.
"Each game I've felt more comfortable, more relaxed and more like I was just playing football," Cutler said. "The first couple, I think I was thinking too much and wouldn't just react. Now, I feel comfortable." With the success of Young, Cutler and Leinart, how does the QBs in this draft stock up against the fabled draft of 1983? |
