Williams suggests some Broncos have quit

DENVER — Pass rush. Pass protection. Run defense. Special teams. Pass coverage.

Locker room turmoil?

Mike Shanahan's long list of things he must address for the Denver Broncos to recover from their four-game losing streak grew by one very big item Monday when second-year cornerback Darrent Williams suggested some of his teammates don't believe their season is salvageable.

"Some people are ready to hang it up, you know, you can tell," said Williams, who didn't name names. "And it's hard when you're losing. It makes everything hard, it makes coming to practice hard. It makes coaches harder on you. It just makes everything harder when you're losing.

"So, a few guys are probably ready to hang it up. I don't know who. But I'm not."

Re: Broncos locker-room turmoil

The Broncos must understand that their season is over and they may possibly need a new coach. I'm not 100% sure they should fire Shanahan but the Cutler move was the type of move owners consider "the last straw."

Hmm... good point, Trashed. I wonder what the feeling in the locker room was about the Cutler move. I imagine some of the veterans, thinking that time may be running out for them, couldn't have been too happy putting their Super Bowl hopes on the back of an untested rookie.

Actually, I heard that a lot of the team wanted Cutler in. Who knows? In retrospect, Shanahan probably should have left Plyummer in - but that's Monday morning quarterbacking.

And as far as Denver needing a new coach - he, just like Jeff Fisher would be out of work for about a day and half.

Same with Jon Gruden or maybe even Tom Coughlin. Perhaps the Broncos just aren't a good fit for Shanahan anymore and he would excel on another team.
