New QB, but same results for Broncos
USA Today - 8 hours ago
DENVER — Mike Shanahan insisted when he benched quarterback Jake Plummer and replaced him with a rookie, that Jay Cutler gave the Denver Broncos their best chance at winning.
That may still prove to be the case. But during Sunday night's 23-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Broncos were plagued by some of the same old woes.

Cutler committed three of the Broncos' five turnovers to mark an inglorious beginning of a new era.

"I'm a little disappointed in myself; I think we put maybe a little too much in the game plan," said Shanahan, whose team wasted a 133-yard rushing game from Tatum Bell and saw Seattle (8-4) score 16 points in the fourth quarter.

Cool Re: Cultler struggles in debut

Mike Klis from: All Things Broncos thinks that Ashley Lelie's departure had a lot to do with the Broncos passing woes:
Quote:
Perhaps, Lelie is snickering over the Broncos’ misfortune. He has to find solace somewhere because he sure isn’t having the individual season he so craved....He has 20 catches - and zero touchdowns - in 12 games for the Atlanta Falcons.....Face it, the Broncos’ No. 1 problem this year has been their passing game. The problems began the moment a certain receiver put himself above the team.
All Things Broncos » Among the Broncos problems…

I don't agree. There problem is Jake Plummer who had a career year last year and was never a good pocket passer. And Cutler looked like a deer in headlights last week...And they replaced Lelie with Javon Walker, anyway. Am I wrong?

Re: Cultler struggles in debut

I was against replacing Plummer at this time of the year from the start. He wasn't doing that horribly that he needed to be yanked for a rookie with no experience.

They should of never place Cutler this late in the season , If they keep him in ? They might not even make the playoffs , They should put Jake back and wait for next year to start Cutler

You know what? I agree, even though I called for Cutler to get a shot.

Guess what? The kid had a shot. He's not ready. Bring back Plummer - it's the only way Shanahan's getting to the playoffs.

I don't think you can yank a QB for a rookie and then when it turns into disaster you just plug back in the guy you originally yanked. Plummer knows now what the coaching staff thinks of him and he'll be playing while he's looking over his shoulder so to speak. Shanahan screwed the Broncos with this Cutler move and barring injury he's stuck in my view. The Broncos are dead.

Cutler had a good outing yesterday...though I agree with Trash...you can't paly musical QBs.

Good outing? Were we looking at the same Jay Cutler? I haven't seen the stats, so they might look respectible. But he looked like a deer in headlights out there, and some of the decisions he made and throws he attempted were downright embarrassing. He is so clearly not ready to be the starting QB that I think you HAVE to go back to Plummer, regardless of the potential consequences, to have any shot whatsoever of staying in the Wild Card hunt.

If I was Jake , It would give me more reason wanting to win, I would do it for the team not for management and If I was the cause of getting the team back into the playoffs ? Afterward once the season is over I would demand to be traded , This way I figure I would get the respect from my team mates and from other teams ( coaches / owners )
