Indianapolis Colts @ Denver Broncos

Gut check time for the Indianapolis Colts -- a late October game at Mile High against one of the toughest defenses in the NFL to score on. The Colts line could barely keep the Redskins from killing Peyton Manning; what are the Broncos front seven going to do? Indy better establish a running game, or else their unbeaten streak comes to a grinding halt. I'm going with the Broncos to hand Tony Dungy's team their first loss of the season, 17-14. What do you guys think? Is this upset possible?

Post Indianapolis Colts @ Denver Broncos - Bloomberg.com Preview

Some interesting facts about the Colts and Broncos game from Bloomberg.com:

Quote:
Bloomberg.com: North American
Oct. 27 (Bloomberg) -- The Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos each have averaged more than 10 victories a
season since 2000. When they get to the National Football League playoffs, they have something in common, too.

Both the Colts (6-0 this season) and the Broncos (5-1) have losing records once the postseason begins -- Indianapolis at 3-6 with Peyton Manning at quarterback, and Denver 1-4 since Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway retired in 1999 after two straight Super Bowl wins.

Indianapolis, with Manning leading the second-highest-scoring offense in the American Football Conference, and Denver,
which has allowed just two touchdowns this season, meet this weekend at the Broncos' Invesco Field. The game may help decide which team gets the top seed in the AFC playoffs, where they'll both get a chance at postseason redemption.

"When the schedule came out, we knew when this game was because you just know Denver every year is going to be a top-
notch team," Manning told reporters this week. "All we're thinking about at this point is trying to get better this week
and to try to pick up a tough road win."
So who does everyone like in this game? I'm sticking with my pick of Denver 17, Indy 14.

Post Indianapolis Colts @ Denver Broncos - Recap

What a thrilling game this one turned out to be, with the Colts pulling out a last second victory!

Quote:
MercuryNews.com | 10/30/2006 | Manning shreds Broncos
By Frank Schwab
The Gazette (Colorado Springs, Colo.)

DENVER - With 1 minute, 49 seconds remaining, the Denver Broncos kicked a field goal to tie the Indianapolis Colts. Yet given what happened in the first 58 minutes and 11 seconds, a Colts victory seemed inevitable.

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning carved through Denver's defense all day and 1:49 was much too much time, especially when a field goal would win the game.

Manning led Indianapolis on an eight-play, 62-yard drive and Adam Vinatieri's 37-yard field goal with two seconds left was the difference in the Colts' thrilling 34-31 victory Sunday.

Denver fell to 5-2 with the loss. Indianapolis became the first team since the 1929-31 Green Bay Packers to start two consecutive seasons 7-0.
So how about that outcome? Once Denver's kicker hit that field goal, I thought for sure that it was going to go to OT. But Manning had enough time left on the clock to engineer the drive, and once they got in field goal range? Forget about it -- Vinatieri is automatic with the game on the line! Game of the day?

Manning made short work of that over-rated defense, did he not?...If you can't put pressure on him, he will breat you every time.

Yeah, really... the book on Peyton says blitz him and make him scramble. Why Denver failed to do so is beyond me.

I guess saying and doing is a totally different thing. Do the Bears have a good enough D to put pressure on Manning?

Well it might be that the Colts O-line is improved...Peyton has been sacked a grand total of 7 times this year.
