Ron Dayne, Darius Watts cut

The Denver Broncos cut both RB Ron Dayne and WR Darius Watts over the weekend. Dayne's departure was expected, as the one time projected starter found himself behind Mike Bell, Tatum Bell and Cedric Cobbs on the tailback depth chart. Watts is a shock; he had been slated to be the #3 wide receiver. What do you these of these cuts by the Denver Broncos?

Is Ron Dayne one of the most overrated RB's ever? I can't stand it that he is the all time leading D1 rusher in NCAA history.

Easy AZ...sometimes great in college does not mean great asa pro...look at double Heisman Archie Griffin...had less than a star studded pro career...Dayne has his place, its just not as a pro.

Re: Ron Dayne, Darius Watts cut

Dayne has been a bit successful in the pro's but he needs a steady dose of touches. In the Giants recent Super Bowl year, Dayne and Tiki were a lethal combo. But Tiki emerged as a great RB in the league and Dayne's playing time got cut.

"Touches" is why he broke the NCAA record. He carried the ball 35 times a game. It did not prove that he was a good back. It just proved he was durable, which I guess has it's pluses.

YES! Oh hell yes! Aggie, thank you, my man - I've been saying this for years, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that way. No way he should've gotten anywhere NEAR the Heisman Trophy. Just go back and look at how bad Dayne chokes in big games, especially against someone like Michigan. Way overrated.

Like David Klingler and Andre Ware from Houston back in the run and shoot days, Dayne was simply the product of a system. Granted he had to be pretty good to play, but he was not Heisman material.
