Gulf Times, Qatar - 4 hours ago
DALLAS: Jere Lehtinen’s powerplay goal at 4:17 of overtime lifted the Dallas Stars to a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday.
Lehtinen’s winner came from the left circle and completed a Dallas comeback after the Canucks had carried a 1-0 lead into the final minute of the third period.
Vancouver’s Robert Luongo was less than 30 seconds away from a shutout and the Canucks from extending their winning streak to seven, but Philippe Boucher tied the game with just 28.3 seconds left on another powerplay.
Dallas pulled goalie Marty Turco while on a two-man advantage with 65 seconds left and still had a 5-on-4 powerplay when Boucher slapped home a shot from the slot to force overtime.
“Give credit to our team,” Dallas coach Dave Tippett told reporters.
“They hung around and stuck with it.”
