MAVERICKS: MAVERICKS ADD FOUR TO FINALIZE TRAINING CAMP ROSTER

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks announced today they have signed 2007 second round pick Reyshawn Terry and rookie free agents Charles Rhodes, JaJuan Smith and Cheyne Gadson for 2008-09 training camp. Terms of the deals were not disclosed. With the group of signees, Dallas enters its first practice at the Crum Basketball Center (Southern Methodist University) with a 19-player roster.
Reyshawn Terry (6-8, 232) was acquired last summer in a draft night trade with Orlando. After being selected with the 44th pick, the forward was traded to Dallas for the rights to Milovan Rakovic (60th pick). Terry earned his first professional experience last season as a member of the Greek A1 League’s Aris TT Bank. He averaged 8.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 20.3 minutes in 19 Euroleague games (2 starts). Terry played for the Mavericks summer league entries over the last two summers. Last summer, he averaged 8.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 18.4 minutes in 5 NBA Summer League games before improving his averages to 11.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 23.7 minutes in 6 Rocky Mountain Revue contests. Terry completed his four-year collegiate career at North Carolina as the school’s third-best 3-point shooter (.419% 3FG).
Charles Rhodes (6-8, 245) comes to Dallas after playing four seasons at Mississippi State. Rhodes finished his career ranked 11th all-time in points (1,451) and rebounds (691), and sixth in blocks (143). Rhodes earned his spot at training camp after playing for Dallas at summer league. He averaged 10.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 19.0 minutes in 5 NSL games. At the Revue, he contributed 8.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 22.5 minutes while shooting 59.4% from the field and 93.3% from the free throw line.
JuJuan Smith (6-2, 195), a former Tennessee Volunteer, ranks among the program’s career leaders in 3-point makes (3rd, 253) 3-point attempts (3rd, 681), 3-point FG% (8th, .372), 3-pointers per game (T-4th, 2.01), steals (4th, 183), steals per game (T-8th, 1.4), games (T-7th, 126) and scoring (19th, 1,384 points). Following his senior season, Smith earned Second Team All-SEC (coaches) and SEC All-Defensive (coaches) honors. In July, Smith averaged 7.6 points, 1.0 assists and 10.6 minutes in 5 NSL games before averaging 5.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 16.7 minutes in 6 Revue games.
Cheyne Gadson (6-3, 190) completes the training camp roster. He comes to Dallas after most recently playing in the D-League. Last season, he played 34 games for Austin before being traded to Albuquerque. He averaged 15.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.0 steals and 35.0 minutes in 48 total games (39 starts). Since finishing his career at Oklahoma State in 2003, Gadson has played professionally abroad, in the CBA and in the D-League.
