Dirk Nowitzki

Dirk Nowitzki of the Mavericks may well win the MVP award, but what's more telling in your eyes -- the fantastic regular season he had, or his eight point, 2-of-13 shooting performance in last night's season ending loss against the Golden State Warriors? The question's been asked by several reporters and pundits already, and now I've gotta raise it here: Will the Dallas Mavericks ever win a title with Dirk Nowitzki as the team's best player?

Cool Re: Dirk Nowitzki

If it weren't for a joke call by a referee last year, the Mavs would have won it all so the answer to your question is yes.

But I don't blame this series on Nowitzki. Where was the rest of the team? And Avery Johnson has to take a huge hit. Dallas was barely competitive and appeared to pack it in early in the 4th quarter. Even if Nowitzki played his A game, the Warriors still win this series.

GS beat the crap out of Dallas...Nowtizki alone can't carry a team...no one else (with the exception of Stackhouse early) could find the range...This was not a Nowitzki loss...it was a Dallas as a whole sucked and Golden State played one hell of a series...no way to pin this on Dirk...

Re: Dirk Nowitzki

The big criticism is that he's too soft and lacks a killer instinct. Any credibility to those charges?

The guy was grabbing almost 3 boards more per game (11.9) in this series than in the regular season, and was the sole reason they got to play last night...the series without Dirk would have ended the game before that...I would want him on my team...but no one guy can carry a team...Chamberlin was not soft, and Boston as a team would beat him often...

(I will keep this thread on-topic, I will keep this thread on-topic, I will keep this thread on-topic)

Well, I can't find an emoticon for "Choke" to describe Nowitzky and the Mavs, so I'll just go with this:

Nowitzki Begins Long, Tough Offseason

Forced to deal with a long offseason, Dirk Nowitzki plans to spend much of it figuring out what went wrong for him and the Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs.

No. Because all you have to do is look at last year. If it weren't for that pathetic call by the ref, the win the championship. Avery Johnson deserves the lion's share of blame this year.
