Cowbos WR Owens practices Tuesday

IRVING ? Receiver Terrell Owens returned to practice on Tuesday

Owens has been slowed by a sore hamstring and was fined last week for missing a team meeting and rehab session and for being late to a meeting.

Coach Bill Parcells said Monday that if Owens didn't practice before the Sept. 10 opener at Jacksonville, he wouldn't play in the game

The Cowboys play Minnesota on Thursday in the preseason finale at Texas Stadium. Owens is not expected to play in the game

still would be nice to see what he can do for a half in the next game

No kidding - Parcells has barely seen the guy practice or play. We have no idea what kind of shape he's in, whether or not he's lost a step by sitting out most of last season, how the hammy's doing, etc. Owens could well hit the field and be a step slower and a little tentative for fear or injury or re-injury. Not to mention that he has next to no reps with Bledsoe.

I hate to say it, cause I am a big TO fan, but after taking him in two of my Fantasy league...I passed on him last night, taking the slightly less risky (???) Randy Moss, and Terry Glenn later in case TO is a no show...

Re: Cowbos WR Owens practices Tuesday

I think Owen's could make a cameo appearence on the field for a coupla play's thursday nite.

Coach Bill Parcells said he's considering having Owens suit up, even if it's only to get him acclimated to the team's sideline routine. There's also a chance Owens will get into the game.

"That'll be up to him," Parcells said. "If he feels like he wants to get some plays, then we'll think about it. If not, we won't."

If so, the first time No. 81 trots on the field at Texas Stadium with a star on his helmet should be a wild scene.

Childress said starting quarterback Brad Johnson likely will play the first two quarters, rookie Tarvaris Jackson will play the third and J.T. O'Sullivan will get the fourth. Not listed is Mike McMahon, who was signed to be a veteran backup for the 37-year-old Johnson but has a passer rating of 23.7 this preseason.

Parcells said his first-teamers will have more than a cameo appearance because of the 10-day layoff until the opener.

"I just don't want to lose the sharpness that we have coming out from camp," he said.

Bill is matching tic for tac on the first half i.m.o..Parcell's does'nt Childress to get an edge not even in a preseason game,
