Bravo, Tuna. He's gotta do what he can to keep this headcase in line. T.O. was medically cleared to practice, so he should practice. On a side note, though, the fact that the two are butting heads already to some degree should mean this will be one fun season in Dallas!

Cool Re: Parcells Lays Down The Law

You know Parcells was soooooooo pissed at this whole situation.

1) Just the fact alone that he allowed Owens to bring in his own trainers tells you that Parcells is walking on egg shells with him.

2) during Press Conferences when asked whether Owens was going to practice, his simple and terse "I don't know" tells you everything you need to know.

When two Super Egos collide something has to give...I like the drama...As long as they win...the show will go on ...look at the 1977 Yankees... Reggie, Billy Martin, and Munson etc...they didn't get along...but they won...Mr. October was no different than TO...

Cool Re: Parcells Lays Down The Law

Good article. Parcells probably knew he was about to lose the team so he took action.

Re: Parcells Lays Down The Law

Parcells would have never lost the team in my own opinion. He has way to much experience and it way to strict on his players to let that happen. He did lay down the law and it was about time, 14 days of not practicing was crazy. He isn't playing Monday night either since he isn't so comfortable yet with the offense and what not. In my opinion a good decision by Parcells.

I kinda like Deion Sanders take on it a bit better...TO for all his egocentric views, is one heck of a competitor...this is a guy who played his butt off in the Super Bowl coming of an injury no one thought was healed...If the dude doesn't think his body is healed, I's give him the benefit of the doubt...I rather see Big Bill pull TO into is office and say, "Look hoss, I know you's be out there if you were healthy, but lets be together on this thing for the good of the team...and if TO didn't respond then lay down the law."...

As it is, Big Bill's ego is just as large as TO...they are going to play this out in front of their beloved Media....

Re: Parcells Lays Down The Law

Wow did'nt think i'd see this.....

Owens-Parcells rivalry nothing but a media creation
August 20, 2006

Bill Parcells allegedly ordered the Cowboys team trainer to get Owens back on the field, and bam, there he was. Then there was the infamous "practice" press conference, which has been played over and over again like he was Allen Iverson Sr.
Sorry, but I don't believe for a minute that Parcells would be stupid enough to order Owens back to practice fields last week, unless he was medically cleared and good enough to go. Parcells is tough and militant at times, but he's not a moron.

The entire article:

Re: Parcells Lays Down The Law

The guy definitely has a point. Is T.O. the only guy missing practices? Hell no. But he's T.O. so we've gotta make an issue out of it. So in some ways its both a media creation and a fan creation, because the media's giving us what we want to hear - "Boy, did you hear about Owens? He and Parcells are already butting heads over practice!" Makes for good water cooler talk.

Give me a team of TO's any day...then someone who says the right thing to management and media and forgets to show up on game day.
