Memo to Jerry:Bring back Jimmy Johnson

Yes, that Jimmy Johnson. The 65-year-old Fox football analyst who built one of the best NFL teams in history and won back-to-back Super Bowls with the Cowboys in 1993 and 1994 only to leave after he and Jones had a stupid spat. Why, Johnson's team was so good that even a dim bulb like Barry Switzer was able to coach the leftovers to a Super Bowl title a couple of years later. Of course, the Cowboys haven't been back to the Super Bowl since.

Memo to Jerry Jones: Bring back Jimmy Johnson | The Fabulous Forum | Los Angeles Times

I have heard this more and more lately.
And since Jimmy had his share of characters and worked with them successfully, the ones we have now can stay
Author goes on to say that since Jerry doesnt like to admit he made a mistake in letting Jimmy go in the first place, maybe he should hire Bum Phillips instead, the 85 year old father of Wade. He said Bum cant coach but neither can Wade and besides Bum looks much better in Cowboy
boots.

I love the last part, about looking better in cowboy boots.

While Johnson may be just what the Dr. ordered it always makes me wonder why a guy that age would be willing to leave a nice warm studio where he is waited on, paid well and merely passes on his observations, to go out to the rigors of dealing with large egos and the personality of Jerry Jones.

Cowboys need to worry more about the future and leave the past behind. Don't hire Jimmy Johnson, hire the next Jimmy Johnson instead.

Exactly. No more retreads.
Look at John Harbaugh, Mike Smith, Tony Sparano, etc.
It doesnt work to go to the past. There have been numberous instances of it. Gibbs comes to mind. He never got the Redskins to their former days of glory.

Exactly. I'd like to see Dallas try someone like Russ Grimm or Ron Rivera.
