| Peter King picks Cowboys as champs Anyone read the Peter King article where he predicts that the Dallas Cowboys will win the Super Bowl in 2006? I'd love to know some of the reasons why. Obviously, its got to ride a lot on T.O. but there has to be more to it than that, right?

| Re: Peter King picks Cowboys as champs King pointed out his reason's for picking the Cowboy's in his write up. What I like about this team is it addressed almost every one of its major needs entering the off-season. The Cowboys got a kicker with some clutch misses on his resume, Mike Vanderjagt, but he's better than any guy they've had in years. They got the best player in free-agency in Owens, who's also one of the five best offensive forces in football when he's mentally right. They got a second blocking/catching tight end in the second round in Notre Dame's Anthony Fasano. They got the kind of stonewallish strongside linebacker in the draft -- Bobby Carpenter -- Parcells must have to play the 3-4 the way he wants. That's a really good 3-4 right now, and it could be superb if DeMarcus Ware provides the kind of pass-rush his potential says he can. King also likes the latter part of schedule: You know what else I like about Dallas and New England? Their schedules. December looks like it'll be kind to both teams. The Cowboys finish with three of four at home (New Orleans, at Atlanta, Philadelphia, Detroit). These 2 mentionable's by King are also my biggest question mark's and concern's about the Cowboy's going into the 2006 season: :Is the offensive line good enough and will the secondary have any more meltdowns like the one it had in the last two minutes of the Washington game last year? Free-safety and the offensive line are big question mark's for me as a Cowboy fan. There are other's like will JJ be able to finally stay healthy for the entire season. Will Skyler Green be the answer on kick-off's? Will Parcell's pair Tyson Thompson and Skyler together on the field at the same time on kick-off return's and give the opposing kick-off team a double threat to cover and worry about?or will he risk a valuable d.b like Newman at time's like last year? Will Bobby Carpenter beat out Al Singleton at the starting strong outside linebacker spot? How much will Parcell's rotate the defense? Will l.b Kevin Burnett and d.e Jerimiah Ratliff bounce back from injury and become a force on defense? The Cowboy's lost 5 line backer's to injury all through the season last year and still managed a to have a pretty good year defensively. Parcell's also pointed out that had we had a decent kicker the Cowboy's might very well have won 12 game's last year.Vanderjagt should be a difference maker in close contest's. Speaking of Skyler Green here is his high-light's for anyone interested: YouTube - Skyler Green Picking superbowl team's is hit and miss at best. There's no way anyone can predict turnover's fumble's dropped passes and one of the biggest of all injurie's, all of which play important role's in victorie's and defeat's.Nice of Mr.King to pick my team to dance at ball but i'm not pre-purchasing my superbowl ticket's for Dallas and the Patriot's based on King or anyone else who is crazy enough to think he know's who the two finalist will be in a tournament contest of pro-football. ![]() |

| Re: Peter King picks Cowboys as champs Carpenter's a real steal, I think. He's really going to help that defense. Not sure I buy into all of King's argument (sure, the December schedule is nice; how's the rest of it?) but the Cowboys definitely look to be NFC East contenders. They could well win the division. |
