| Re: The two faces of Terrell Owens An interesting look into Terrell Owens, the man, not the football player. Former teammate Derrick Dees says: "The closer you get to him, the more trust and loyalty he has to you... You stab him in the back, and he's done with you. He's not going to give too many second chances because he doesn't want to get burned twice by the same match." Adds George Stewart, his position coach from San Francisco: "He wants respect. He craves it from his peers because he never got it as a child because he was always being ridiculed. Now's his chance to say he has arrived... Names don't impress him. Bill Parcells, Jerry Rice, George Bush. All he wants is respect. It's not who you are but what you do that's important to him." So is Owens a jerk, or just a misunderstood guy looking for respect? I know which way I'm leaning...

| Re: The two faces of Terrell Owens I hope the Cowboys can make it work with Terrell. They need the big play ability that he brings to the table.

| Re: The two faces of Terrell Owens If anyone can control him, Ross, I think its Parcells. But then, I personally don't think ANYONE can control him. As long as T.O.'s getting his catches and touchdowns, he'll be happy. But if Bledsoe starts to go away from him, that's then it hits the fan. |

| Re: The two faces of Terrell Owens Nice article 49er's new's thank's for sharing. Found this tidbit on kffl: Cowboys | Owens blames media for being portrayed as selfish Mon, 17 Jul 2006 18:40:54 -0700 The Associated Press reports Terrell Owens blames the media for portraying him as a selfish player. He did admit a tendency of saying things about others that he wouldn't want said about himself. During an interview on HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel," Owens acknowledged dishing out more criticism that he is willing to take. He also believes reporters are using him "to gain viewers' attention." He believes that he is "misunderstood," but recognizes that other players have been portrayed that way as well. However, Owens feels that he has been "one of the main guys who've been vilified." Owens added, "Why me? ... At some point it does get to me. And I can't say it enough. Dude, I'm human and that's what I'm trying to get people to understand." You can't blame everything on the mediot's as much as i would like to sometime's.I believe a man is responsible for his own action's. The best thing to do is to not give reporter's any ammunition and keep your mouth shut.Let your play on the field do your talking, when your as talented as Owen's is it will speak volume's all on it's own.I just hope Owen's behave's himself during his tenure with the Cowboy's.The guy is awesome physically gifted receiver that can explode down the field after he catches the ball. ![]() ![]() |
