Cool Re: Must read for Cowboy fan's

I think Fasano was a luxury that could have waited to the 3rd round. They should have gone for an offensive lineman with their 2nd pick. This is just Parcells trying to reincarnate Bavaro.

Yeah, but Bavaro was a hell of a weapon, so if this kid's even close, Parcells will look like a genius.

Re: Must read for Cowboy fan's

What the Cowboys need is an O line because of right now they have NO line. Drafting TEs when you already have one of the best in the game is ridiculous. This reminds of when the Lions drafted Mike Williams when they had Charles Rogers and Roy Williams starting. Well...not that ridiculous but I thought the idea of the draft is to fill holes on the roster not strengthen your already strong positions. Bill Parcells is turning into Buddy Ryan. Wow! Thats ironic!!!

Re: Must read for Cowboy fan's

I agree Lefty Noob.

Yeah Pundit the last position i expected the Cowboy's to fill earlyin the draft was tight-end ! But with the offense going to the two tight-end / two receiver base set it make's good sense. If Fasano turn's out to be as good as predicted coming out of Notre Dame he'll be worth the Cowboy's plucking him in the second round.Fasano learned alot under Weis just in a short time...

Quote:
After just one season under Weis, Fasano elevated his stock in the Irish's pro-style offense. He had his most productive year with 47 catches for 576 yards and two touchdowns. Fasano, who finished second all-time among Irish tight ends in catches, was one of three finalists for the John Mackey Award, given to the country's top tight end.

"I think I really benefited with just the year I had with [Weis]," Fasano said. "I owe him a lot of money, I guess."

Fasano has drawn predictable comparisons to ex-Giant and Notre Dame product Mark Bavaro..

Quote:
"Yeah, [he's similar to] a guy I used to have," Parcells said during the rookie minicamp. "I don't know whether he blocks as good right now -- similar in the passing game."
Fasano's upside includes good hands, feet and a knowledge of the system. Blocking might be his biggest need for improvement.

Quote:
He has very good hands," said Cowboys rookie free-agent quarterback Jeff Mroz of Yale, who worked with Fasano during the rookie minicamp. "He always knew exactly what he was doing and he was always in the right spot. He's got the whole package."
I'm excited about the Cowboy's offense and Defense this year. It should be an interesting season.

Re: Must read for Cowboy fan's

The list of tight ends who were slated to be the next Mark Bavaro are as numerous as QBs who were to be the next Joe Montana. In my opinion the closest thing you have to Mark Bavaro is ironically current Giant Jeremy Shockey. A healthy Shockey draws up favorably to ol' Rambo as they called Bavaro. Last year Shockey was about 85-90% healthy and he put up great #s. Whats to happen this year? Will he achieve immortality? The possibilities for #80 are endless in 2006!

I am with you on this...with Owen and Glenn all ready targets for Bledsoe, why have two tight ends?

Re: Must read for Cowboy fan's

In a two tight end offense, he has a chance to be an immediate starter. In contrast, a rookie tackle would have a tough time beating out Adams on the left side or Fabini/Pettiti/Columbo on the right.Fasano is a big, smart, tough reliable tight end with great hands who can contribute immediately on the offense.
