While making a long early-morning drive and listening to Sirius NFL Radio’s replay of Monday’s Late Hits with Jack Arute and Gil Brandt, we heard Brandt make an intriguing observation regarding Cowboys safety Roy Williams.

Brandt, citing an unnamed NFL source, said that Williams could be a cap casualty of the Cowboys if he doesn’t have a strong training camp. We think the more likely possibility would be a trade, given that the problem potentially arises from Williams’ perception that he isn’t a good fit for the Wade Phillips defense. Besides, someone else would surely want a guy who has made it to five straight Pro Bowls.
Then again, maybe all of this chatter about Williams is aimed at getting him as motivated as possible for a “Super Bowl or you’re all fired” season in Dallas.

It'd be absolutely foolish to cut him. If you don't plan on keeping him, yeah, absolutely trade him. I'm sure you'd get a first-day pick for him.

This is another of those stories that just doesnt want to go away. I am kind of divided on this.
Campo is back and Williams did his best work when he was there before. I would love for Williams to come back and become the feared hard hitter he once was. His hits were always shown on Jacked Up. Now alway we see is his horse collars.
So part of me says give him another year. He may change it around with Campo back. Another part says he's getting older. He's not going to get it back in spite of his Pro Bowls. So trade him and get what you can.

But how many horses need a new collar ? I guess he may have another season to rev it back up. Sorry to get off topic, but imho, a horse collar should result in a 10k fine, ejectoin from teh game it occured in, and an additional 2 game suspension.

I'm off topic too but with each of his horse collar tackles in the last two years, the punishment got worse. The first in 2006 against Tiki Barber earned him a $10000 fine.
The second in 07 against Desmond Clark resulted in a $12500 fine.
The third in 07 against Marshawn Lynn cost him $15000 and a one game suspension.
I dont believe he is a dirty player but rather it is a result of a poor tackling technique. And getting back on topic I think there is a chance with Campo back he can change that technique.
And unless he changes that technique and gets some of his old flair back, I dont think he has all that much value. He cant cover the pass, he is best when left to roam closer to the line of scrimmage. So unless a team is going to use him that way, all they are getting is the title of Five Time Pro Bowler.
