Re: Terrell Owens' in Dallas

Thank's for the welcome Dark Knight.

Did'nt care for Owen's too much before he became a Cowboy, let's face it he played for our dreaded division foe the Eagle's and disrespected the star at Texas Stadium as a Niner but i've alway's feared and respected his talent when he took the field against the Boy's.

As far as predicting his upcoming stat's are concerned you have to remember that Owen's has only caught 100 ball's once and has caught 80 or fewer ball's in 7 of 10 seasons...i think how Terrell will affect defense's with double coverage will be more important than his personal stat's overall and will really open up Glenn in one on one match-up's and take that 8th man out of the box so that Julious Jones and Marion Barber can be more productive in the running game..i see the Cowboy's playing a more controlling time of possession run first more this year.

The addition of a book-end compliment to Witten with Notre Dame's pass-catching Anthony Fasano will also help to keep opposing defense's more honest at the line of scrimmage and decrease the ratio of blitz'es that were a constant last year.

I hear you my man...but lets face it, TO had 5 straight +1100 yard years, and over 60 touchdowns (over the previous 5 seasons before 2005) playing for both the 49ers and Eagles...I jsut don't see his stats dropping off too sharply. This is a guy who played the Super Bowl injured and with the coverage keying on him and was still huge. I think he will get his numbers, he will jsut help everyone else out in the process.

Let me welcome you too Werewolf! The problem that the Boys have is whether Bledsoe will be upright long enough to get Owens the ball. They still have problems at right tackle.

Thank's Pundit.Yeah r.t with Petitti is Questionable and definately a concern going into this season. But i do think the Cowboy's are in a better position having brought in Fabini and Saprano said Columbo willl also be in the mix at competing and has had a 360 turn around since last year But it's Petitti's job to lose..i hope he does a better job vs speed rusher's than he did last year...that is if he's holds on to the position thru camp and Fabini does'nt beat him out.

Hey Warewolfe94 how did Henson do over in Europe this year?...and why didn't the Cowboys take a shot at a QB in the draft?...I personally was suprised that with Witten in the stable they took Fasano with the number 2 pick...Is Henson the long term answer? Should they have taken a chance on signing Joey Harrington?

I guess as a backup, Fabini is fine. Even if he didn't get hurt last year the Jets weren't going to re-sign him.

Gotham I think where the Cowboys really screwed up was by not drafting an offensive lineman with their 2nd pick. I didn't like that Fasano pick but Parcells is obsessed with reincarnating Mark Bavaro.

I thought Whitten was a good version of Bavaro already?...That's the real interesting part.

Henson has the physical skills that you are looking for and he is coming off a season for Rhein in which he completed 109 of 209 passes for 1,321 yards and 10 touchdowns, but most importantly, he threw only three interceptions.Henson will compete again with Tony Romo to be backup quarterback behind Drew Bledsoe.Romo beat out Henson last year in camp.

Jerry Jones must decide whether Romo or Henson is the quarterback of the future and Henson's positive performance in NFLE should raise his confidence level entering training camp.

Parcell's did'nt exactly have rave review's about henson's preformance across the pond when asked by reporter's he got a i don't what to say look on his face and said he expected more and then went on to say we have camp coming up and we'll see how it goes.

Romo has improved his arm strength considerably since his rookie season His accuracy was always pretty good. And he is fairly athletic and a very smart kid just have'nt seen enough of him in games to make an evaluation either way.As long as Bledsoe holds up and stay's injury free or Parcell's retire's we're not going to find out..Bill say's that he will be playing Romo alot in the upcoming preseason game's..look forward to seeing what he and Henson can do.

Thanks for the update Wolfman...Some how I don't see Tony Romo as the future in Big D...but what do I know, sounds like you are on top of the issue for us...I am suprised with Henson's TD/Int ratio though...shows promise...would love to see him pan out. But does Parcells have patience for this two kids?

Yeah Dark Knight i was surprised by the pick also till i realized that Parcell's was going to a two tight-end base offense this year.

The main reason we are switching to this system is that it helps to keep defenses off balance by keeping the same personnel on the field at all times.Instead of replacing the FB with a slot receiver, you are more likely to see the basic 2 WR, 2TE offense on normal 3rd down situations. This makes it harder for defenses to figure out what type of play you are going to run.The other main positive of this system is that it gives you another legitimate receiving threat out on the field. Anthony Fasano is more dangerous to opposing defenses than Lousaka Polite. This added weapon can be used to help open up running lanes for our backs as well.

Gotya...going to keep an eye out for the two TE set then. Should be quiet an offense...Owen, Jones and the two TE...not to mention Glenn who I think can return to the form he showed early in New England.

I think Parcells is nuts to go into the season with these 2 guys as QB. If Bledsoe gets hurt the season is over. You think Parcells would know better after Testeverde went down the first game with the Jets and their backups were Rick Mirer and Ray Lucas. The guy that makes the most sense to have on the bench is TOMMY MADDoX. He's a free agent, lives in a Dallas suburb, and would be the perfect guy to tutor the Henson and Romo and if Dallas is in contention, he can come in and perform. He also won't cost much so the Cowboys can fit him in under the cap.

Yeah Maddox would be the ticket there...I have always liked the former UCLA guy...

Re: Terrell Owens' in Dallas

Fox put out Bledsoe's stat's from last season.

Cowboys – Drew Bledsoe, Drew Henson, Tony Romo

There was a Bledsoe revival last year under Parcells, but he looked like the same old Drew by the end of the season. He had an 83.7 QB rating (2nd best in the NFC East) and threw for the most yards in division. He threw for 3,639 yards, with 23 TDs and 17 INTs. However, he threw 6 interceptions in the last 3 games of the season and was a big reason the Boys didn’t make the playoffs. His QB rating was 36.9 (against NYG), 42.0 (against WAS), and 53.6 (against STL) in their last 3 losses of the season.

Bledsoe's a pocket passer that occassionly roll's out who need's a good offensive line out in front of him to be productive.Granted he did throw a couple of bone-head interception's in a couple a game's(i still can't forget the seattle game (PULLING OUT HAIR) But nobody's perfect you can't win every battle on the football field.

So far as the last game vs the Ram's goes the Cowboys knew they were out of hunt the play-off hunt before the game, that had to take the wind out of Boy's sails.

The acquisition of T.O. will certainly stretch the field, but Keyshawn was a great possession receiver last season (made 25 of his 71 catches on 3rd down).

Sorry i'll take T.O over Keyshawn all day long.:lol

Henson didn’t throw a pass last year in a regular season game and is still considered “unproven”. Has looked pretty good in NFL Europe, which may help him stay ahead of Romo on the depth chart. He should get a significant number of snaps in preseason.

Romo has been one of the fan favorites for the last three years, but has yet to throw a pass in the NFL. Will need a great preseason to surpass Henson.

I think Jerry and Parcell's are going to sink or swim with these young-gun's. I hope at least one of them pan's out for the future and turn's gold for the Cowboy's.

Jerry think's he's has his future already on the roster:

In Indianapolis the past week for the big NFL meet and greet, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had a one-word answer to the question: Is the future quarterback already on the roster?
"Yes."
He quickly added to this
"yes."

"Short term, for sure," he said. "I would say it's very possible long term. As I sit here now, he's more likely on the roster than not on the roster."
