| Cowboys' differences with Glenn, Ellis about protection Terry Glenn is entering his 13th season, will be 34 in July. Greg Ellis is entering his 11th season, will be 33 in August. After his injury last year, Glenn elected not to have microfracture surgery because he wanted a shot at the Super Bowl. It was a move Jerry Jones admired. Last year Glenn received $5 million in roster bonus and $820,000 for one game Now the Cowboys want him to sign an injury settlement that will give him $500,000 if he reinjures the knee. For any other injury he will receive the $1.7 million due him. Its all about protection. Greg Ellis is once again afraid he is being phased out because Anthony Spencer is getting most of the reps at workouts. They want to know more about Spencer. He was worried last year too. So Jerry Jones added $500,000 to his '07 base salary and put in guarantees for '08 and '09. Ellis responded with the best year of his career. He and DeMarcus Ware combined for 261/2 sacks last year and are considered one of the best pass rushing duos in the league. So why would the Cowboys want him off the field? Its all about protection. Dallas Cowboys' differences with Glenn, Ellis all about protection | Sports News | Dallas Morning News | News for Dallas, Texas This was from an article by Todd Archer. Not sure if I agree with everything. Mostly because he makes Jerry Jones sound like a saint. I understand the protection part. I also understand the players' concerns.
